Senator James Clark, Lifetime Achievement Award
Senator Clark is recognized for his lifelong contribution to the preservation of agriculture heritage, the participation and promotion of agriculture land preservation, leadership in the founding of the Howard County Conservancy, support of the Antique Farm Machinery Club, Howard County Historic Society, preservation of the George Ellicott house in Ellicott City and support of preservation issues while serving as States Senator and President of the Senate.

Lambert Cissel, developer
Mr. Cissel was given the award for significant achievement in the restoration, preservation and adaptive use of Lee’s Market and house in Lisbon. The restoration of this historic site makes a contribution to the rural landscape and the community of Lisbon. The general store served the residents of Lisbon well into the 20th century. Today, the restored building exemplifies adaptive use of historic structures by providing commercial office space.

Al Smith, owner of Walnut Nursery in Glenwood
Mr. Smith received the award for his restoration of the historic Longwood mansion of Dr. Gustavus Warfield, located in Glenwood. The restoration and use of this historic home contributes to the protection of Howard County’s remaining historic sites and graces the rural countryside. The use of Longwood for the Historic Ellicott City’s Show House for 2005, opened the doors and shared this piece of history with the residents of Howard County.
